Located in the Ultima Segmentium, the Ahon system consists of six planets orbiting a yellow star. The fourth planet was colonized by the grace of the Emperor in 855.M39. The biosphere of Ahon IV supports agriculture sufficient to supply the immediate population only. The planet is considered to be mineral-poor. Tithes to the Emperor are modest.
Strategically the planet is of moderate importance. The proximity to the Tau Empire was and continues to be the primary reason for maintaining a population there. The planet maintains a small Imperial Guard garrison but this is not sufficient to repel an attack from outside the system. As a result, the system is considered a valuable obstacle for any Tau or Tyranid invasion. The time required to overrun the system would buy valuable response time for nearby Imperial Guard and Space Marine forces to prepare defenses.
The Imperial colony on Ahon IV missed its most recent Tithes. Comm records indicate that no transmissions had been received from the planet for a period of 459 days. Inquiries were made and, due to the moderate strategic importance of the planet, were completed ahead of schedule (2 years, 50 days.) An Imperial Guard expeditionary force will be dispatched to investigate.
